International Convention on Human Rights: With Special Reference to Vulnerable Groups

Human rights have come into existence to protect and promote the dignity of human life. The Concept of human rights is based on the theory that human being the end. Without rights dignified human existence cannot be imagined. In present world of human being, there are some group that are either by nature or other reasons are weak or vulnerable. Child, Women, Disabled, Refugee, Lesbian, Old age persons may be included in vulnerable group. The position of these groups is not so good as others. The vulnerable groups have the same rights as other human beings. But at many times their rights have been violated by the dominant section of society. Keeping it in mind, various conventions have been concluded under the auspices of United Nations to protect the human rights of vulnerable persons. Human rights attach to all people equally, by virtue of their humanity, irrespective of race, nationality or membership of any particular social group.
