Abstract

The Indian economy has demonstrated an increasing asymmetry between different regions as well as traditional professions, ever since economic reforms were initiated. This has resulted in a series of economic problems to the traditional-profession communities, which need to be addressed properly by policy makers. In this context, the Government of Telangana has initiated several economic development schemes for the welfare of traditional communities, including the Shepherded community. The present study unfolds that although the sheep and goat rearing schemes have greater potential in promoting employment and generate income to target group and rural economy in South Indian State i.e., Telangana State, it is caught-up in administering the scheme in its letter and spirit.
