This study appraises people’s perception toward local government bureaucrats in Bangladesh by determining the elements that influence such perception. Furthermore, this study uncovers the level of satisfaction with the quality of government services provided by local government bureaucrats. This study is based on a mixed approach containing both qualitative and quantitative data. According to the findings, the general people’s perception of bureaucrats is unsatisfactory and has deteriorated over time. People expect bureaucrats to provide high-quality and timely services but they do not get the services they desire, it has a bad impact on their attitude toward bureaucrats. On the contrary, if people get the services they desire, it may have a favorable impact on their perception. Therefore, a two way trustworthy relationship can be built up between the people and the bureaucrats. Finally, this study offers some policy notes for establishing a trustworthy relationship between bureaucrats and general people.
