Globalisation: Implications for the sovereignty of states

Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to comprehend the nature and impact of globalisation because globalisation is a comprehensive process that has crucial implications for state sovereignty. The conventional idea of state sovereignty has been challenged by the growing interdependence of sovereign states, which has been accelerated by advancements in transportation and communication technology. In view of this foundation, this research paper explores the concept of globalisation and its impact on the autonomy and authority of sovereign states. This article is divided into eight sections. The first Section focuses on a conceptual understanding of globalisation and its characteristics. The second Section sketches the historical background of globalisation. Section third of the article outlines the drivers of globalisation. The fourth Section presents debates about globalisation. The fifth Section of the article examines various dimensions of globalisation and its impact on people, society and economy of the Sovereign States. In the sixth section, we look into the impact of globalisation on state sovereignty. The seventh section delves into challenges to globalisation and section eighth examines antiglobalisation protests. The article ends with a conclusion.
