Abstract

Surveys conducted during Kharif 2000–2003 seasons in commercial chilli growing areas of Northern Telangana zone of Andhra Pradesh showed an average incidence of chilli mosaic equal to 18.47 per cent. Among five groups of mosaic viruses distributed in different disticts of Northern Telangana zone of Andhra Pradesh, cucumber mosaic virus (CMV, 1.34%) was found to be maximum in its distribution followed by peanut bud necrosis virus (PBNV, 6.42%), potato virus Y (PVY, 5.26%) and tobaco mosaic virus (TMV, 4.93%).
