Eight different natural substrates viz., wheat straw, paddy straw, saw dust, shelled maize cob, wheat bran, wheat bran + saw dust, FYM and spent mushroom compost were evaluated for growth and population density of Trichoderma hamatum and T. harzianum at different time intervals. The results indicated that linear growth of Trichoderma was maximum on spent mushroom compost while its population density was highest in shelled maize cob, an agro industrial cellulose waste.
