Abstract

Nematodes are now established constraint causing agents to the growth of plants including medicinal, aromatic and spices. To identify nematode specific problems, soil and root samples were collected from Satyal Herbal Park, Bajwara Road, and Bassi Jana Park, Tanda Road, Hoshiarpur and PAU Herbal Garden, Ludhiana. Root knot nematode infestation was observed in Rudraksh, Kali Tulsi, Bun tulsi, Vajradanti, Stevia, Uchanti, Maljan, Patthar chaat, Dama booti, Bavchi, Turmeric, Safed musali, Sinduri, Keokand, Methi, Mentha, Fennel and Coriander. Bun tulsi and Patchouli were infested with reniform nematode. Other nematodes that were associated with medicinal, aromatic and spice plants include lesion nematode, stunt nematode and species of Basirolaimus, Psilenchus and Helicotylenchus. Criconemoides insignis, was associated with Dama booti, Xiphinema americanum with Rudraksh and Aphelenchus avenae with Aonla.
