Abstract

Alternaria leaf blight is one of the most important diseases of cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata L.). The disease has been observed frequently at some important vegetable growing areas of Kashmir valley. It was prevalent in both the districts surveyed, during the year 2005. The disease incidence and intensity ranged from 23.45 to 43.68 per cent and 5.53 to 17.55 per cent at preheading and heading stage of the crop, respectively. The higher disease incidence (25.45 and 46.77%) and intensity (5.95 and 18.66%) was recorded in district Budgam than that in Srinagar (21.45 and 40.59%) and (5.11 and 16.45%) at preheading and heading stages of the crop, respectively.
