Cultural methods are eco-friendly and most practical methods for the management of nematodes. Rice root-knot nematode (M.graminicola) is an important nematode on rice in light soils and under aerobic conditions. It has been reported from a number of places from the state of Punjab. Therefore, studies were conducted to find out the effect of different cultural practices on rice root-knot nematode. Observations were recorded for three years from the experiment being conducted in the Deptt of Soil Science, PAU, Ludhiana. There were six treatments in all. Each treatment was replicated four times in 84 sq m plots. Root- galling index (RGI) was recorded seventy days after transplanting taking five plants from each replicate. Maximum buildup (RGI = 6.30 on 0–10 scale) of rice root-knot nematode was observed when rice was transplanted on beds, submerged for first fifteen days and then irrigated two days after draining and almost negligible buildup (RGI= 0.i3) was observed when it was transplanted flat, submerged for first fifteen days and then irrigated daily.
