Abstract

Fungal isolates of Crossandra rhizosphere were evaluated for their biocontrol potential against Fusarium solani under in vitro (dual culture method) and sick soil (pot) conditions. In dual culture, isolate Trichoderma viride showed the strongest antagonistic activity towards F. solani followed by Aspergillus niger, A. terreus. The two highly efficient antagonists, T. viride and A. niger were studied individually @ 15 gm/5 kg soil and in combinations in relation to biocontrol of crossandra wilt in sick soil. Both the antagonists gave better disease control when used individually than in combinations. Disease severity of 33.3% and 40%, respectively was recorded when T. viride and A. niger were applied.
