The world over as many as 90 species of Leucoagaricus are recorded so far, only few of species are known from India. Basidiocarps varying from fragile to slender, sturdy and fleshy, annulate stipe, presence of cheilocystidia and variable pileus cutis etc., are some of the diagnostic characters of the genus. This paper records seven species of the genus Leucoagaricus belonging to the family Agaricaceae Undrew from different localities of North India. The documented species include Leucoagaricus albidus species nov., Leucoagaricus crystallifer Vellinga, Leucoagaricus rhodocephalus (Berk.) Peg., Leucoagaricus melanotrichus (Mal.& Bert) Trimb var. melanotrichus, Leucoagaricus sublittoralis (Kühner ex Hora) Singer, Leucoagaricus barsii (Zellar) Vellinga var. bulbobarsilarus var. nov. and Leucoagaricus tener (Orton) Bon, Docum var. brevispora var. nov. Out of the presently worked out taxa one new species Leucoagaricus albidus species nov. and two new varieties proposed while Leucoagaricus crystallifer, Leucoagaricus rhodocephalus (Berk.) Peg. Leucoagaricus melanortichus var. melanotrichus, Leucoagaricus sublittoralis are recorded for the first time from India.
