Abstract

Six plant extracts viz., onion (Allium cepa), garlic (Allium sativum), neem (Azadirachta indica), bhang (Canabis sativa), ginger (Zingiber officinale) and datura (Datura stramonium) belonging to different family were evaluated in vitro and in vivo at different concentrations (12.5,25.0 and 50.0%) for their fungitoxicity against Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn, the causal agent of web blight of urdbean. Extract of Canabis prepared in distilled water, acetone or methanol was inhibitory to radial growth ofRhizoctonia solani in PDA. The inhibition of growth of the fungus increased with the increase in concentration of the text extracts prepared in all the three solvents. Field studies conducted under artificial inoculation conditions revealed that seed treatment followed by three foliar spray of Canabis extract showed lowest disease severity, highest grain yield as well as maximum 1000-grain weight as against control.
