Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) are main viruses reported to cause economic losses in muskmelon crop in Punjab. exploiting host plant resistance could be useful in management of virus diseases. Therefore, the present study was conducted with an aim to screen available genetic stock of melons against CMV and ZYMV. a total of 53 germplasm lines along with the susceptible check ‘Punjab sunehari’ were screened by mechanical inoculation. Three lines viz., MM4021, MM4278, SM MC-20 did not show any apparent symptoms even after 30 days. These resistant lines along with susceptible check were subjected to elisa to confirm the resistance. The resistant lines can be further exploited in resistance breeding programmes against CMV and ZYMV.
