Abstract

F2 progenies of two crosses namely BPT5204/TDH251 and BPT5204/TDH 10 were screened under controlled conditions at CSKHPKV, Palampur (H.P.) for study on the inheritance of resistance against blast isolates DSN37-1 and MSF-9. It was found that genotypes TDH 10 and TDH 251 harbored one blast resistance gene against blast isolate DSN-37-1. Whereas TDH 10 and possibly TDH 251 have been shown to contain two complementary blast resistance genes against isolate MSF-9. Both lines, TDH10 and TDH251, derive their resistance from broad spectrum resistant genotype Tetep and represent potential donors of blast resistance for rice breeding programmes.
