Phytophthora leaf blight and fruit rot caused by Phytophthora capsici Leon. is one of the most important diseases of bell pepper in mid-hills of himachal Pradesh. Evaluation of 35 varieties/cultivars was done against Phytophthora blight both under natural and artificial epiphytotic conditions. Among all the varieties/cultivars evaluated, five cultivars viz; DARL-72, UHFBP-7, Nishat-1, Kt-1 and Yellow Wonder were found as moderately susceptible. while, disease reaction in rest of the genotypes ranged between susceptible to highly susceptible. while, none of the cultivars was found free from the disease.
