Abstract

Rice blast is a serious disease prevalent throughout the world including India. under high disease pressure, it causes complete crop loss at seedling, tillering and heading stages. This disease can be sustainably managed by the development of resistant cultivars. Thus, fifty aromatic and basmati rice genotypes were screened against leaf and neck blast during Kharif2017, 2018 and 2019 at RWRC, CSK HPKV Malan. It was found that 27, 15, and 12 genotyped were resistant to leaf blast, neck blast, and 12 both leaf and neck blast, respectively. Compilation of three years data showed 27 genotypes were resistant to leaf blast and 15 were resistant to neck blast. The genotypes viz. Kasturi, HPR 2667, HPR 2693, HPR 2750, Bhagolta Local, Jammu Basmati, Katali, RR 600, Vallabh Basmati 21, Vallabh Basmati 22, Vallabh Basmati 23 and Vallabh Basmati 24, resistant to both leaf and neck blast, can be utilized in breeding programme to develop blast resistant basmati cultivars.
