Abstract

The Northern part of India comprises almost ail aspects of Mother Nature namely great rivers, dense forests, hills, cultivated fields and the like. It also has, in the wake of enormous industrial development of the past four decades, hugs amounts of pollution. Fog forming during winters under the groat Himalayas combined with industrial pollution crates havoc on the insulators installed on the transmission lines. So much so that it has many a times become a cause of sarious concern on account of tripping of lines leading to enormous losses and hardships.

This paper dsscribes how Power grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) took up this mammoth task of reducing the trippings of account of pollution in and around the National capital Region of Deihl (NCR of Delhi).
