Abstract

The ever increasing importance of Distributed Generation (DG) is due to advancement of Power Electronics Circuits (PEC). Solar energy is one of the most promising Renewable Energy Sources (RES) that can be used to produce electric energy. Grid connected Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) systems is becoming more popular. In a grid connected solar PV system, standard power quality and safety is achieved by high degree of grid synchronization method by accurate and fast detection of the phase angle, amplitude and frequency of the grid voltage. In this paper a Phase Lock Loop (PLL) control strategy is designed to synchronize with the true phase angle of the grid. The PLL is designed using Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) theory with Proportional Integral (PI) controller. The PI controller is tuned by Symmetrical Optimum (SO) method. The proposed PLL is designed by considering ideal and various non-ideal grid conditions. The simulation has been performed in MATLAB/Simulink platform. Simulation results show that both ideal and non-ideal grid conditions were handled well by the proposed system and the phase angle tracking was good and fast.
