Abstract

The objective of this paper is to highlight different challenges encountered and solution obtained during execution of gas insulated substation at Kamakhya which is situated at stiff slope within small range. Due to the geologic adversity of the site different engineering philosophy was adopted than which are normally done for substations in plain terrain. Foundation activities were adopted without disturbing natural topography keeping in mind its inheritance. At the end high potential risk was avoided without additional commercial implication.
