Abstract

Sustaining the voltage profile with optimal operation and security of the system while minimizing system power losses is one of the major problems in the operation and control of emerging power systems. Maintaining desired voltage profile using FACTS devices, by minimizing the objective function related to fuel cost, power losses and load voltage deviation is carried out. Huge capital investment is required for installation of FACTS devices and therefore a thorough exploration is required at planning stage itself to extract maximum benefit from these devices. This paper presents a new approach for Optimal Power Flow to improve voltage profile, reduce power loss, system loadability of the system and also reduce the total real power generation cost without and with Static VAR Compensator (SVC) using BAT search algorithm.

Each Objective Function is analyzed individually of the Multi objective Function using the proposed BAT algorithm on IEEE 30 bus system without and with SVC.
