India has huge potential RE resources including solar. Gujarat is having huge potential of solar generation. Gujarat has taken initiative to develop solar plants at Gujarat in a big way and for that special solar policy was introduced in 2009–10 with a good solar tariff of Rs. 15 per KWH for first 12 years and 5 Rs for balanced 13 years. Hence, many developers have come up to install their plants during 2011–13. As on 31st May 15, total 996 MW of solar plants is installed at Gujarat. Out of these, 345 MW are installed at Charanka Solar Park – first solar park in India.
SLDC, Gujarat has installed RTU at all the solar plants and the real time data of generation of solar plants are obtained at SLDC. The solar generation of every 15 minutes block is also obtained from ABT meter provided at each solar plant. This data is use for system operation. The solar generation data for Gujarat and Charanka solar park of last three years are analyzed in this paper considering – month, year, season, area and solar panel module wise. Gujarat has taken initiative to install solar panel over the Narmada canal for solar generation.
