Understanding the concepts of earthing design and selection of inputs-issues of brainstorming

Awareness on importance of earthing system is considerably increased. Many experts have presented their knowledge and experiences through paper at National and International level. CBIP plays very vital role in this process by providing platform to express ideas and knowledge and sharing experiences in the National and International level conferences.

Still there is scope and need of improvement of awareness level on the subject of earhing system.

The objective of this paper is to share the knowledge and ideas of author on the concepts of earthing system design and how it relates to the power system design so as to avoid use of wrong practice(s) or excess/undue material. Also it is important to know when and where some parameters (for example fault current) are compared with parameters used for power system design.

The paper also describes up to what extent the tolerances/considerations of input parameters for earhting system should be allowed.
