Modern trends and accident prevention on distribution transformers

Distribution Transformer (DT) is the medium voltage source of power for consumers in every utility. It is a major area of concern for any distribution utility as DTs are generally located in public places. The situation is even graver for utilities operating in urban area where population density is very high. CESC Ltd. being a city based distribution utility is no exception in this regard. In CESC's system more than 8000 DTs are operating in urban & suburban area. Hence it's very important to take care of the safety of general public. Besides, enhancing & ensuring safety of its operators/field staffs is the primary responsibility of any utility.

This paper deals with all the measures taken by CESC in recent past to improve upon its overall safety standards for Distribution Transformers in multipronged aspects.
