Director, (SLDC),
Stepping forward to touch the India target for 2030 towards INDC commitment three major points on power sector are being aimed i.e: (i) 40% of India’s cumulative electric power installed capacity will come from non-fossil fuel-based energy sources, (ii) India will reduce the emission intensity of its gross domestic product (GDP) by 33-35% (vis-à-vis 2005 levels) and (iii) India will create an additional carbon sink of 2.5-3 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent (through additional forest and tree cover). Odisha is also striving to contribute to some extent towards the mission. Being the initiator of power reform in India, its role in transforming the power economy may not be ignored despite being frequently thrashed by natural calamity.
