Abstract

In the domain of power transformer and shunt reactor diagnostics, the correlation between furan levels and the degree of polymerization (DP) has become a focal point of research, offering crucial insights into the ageing and condition assessment of these critical power equipment. We conducted an extensive study on failed transformers and reactors to develop an efficient Furan-DP correlation model. This paper outlines the key findings, including the evaluation of various Furan-DP correlation models, exploration of early ageing markers such as Methanol, and the investigation of accelerated ageing phenomena. Case studies highlighting practical implications are presented, emphasizing the importance of accelerated ageing studies in formulating robust diagnostics and maintenance strategies.
