Abstract

Forty three genotypes of fenugreek during the year 1999–2000 and 38 during the year 2000–01 were evaluated for different horticultural characters under no cutting, single cutting and double cutting practices. Leaf cutting resulted in decreasing in the mean performance of all the characters. The mean performance of genotypes/collections over the period of studies along with leaf cutting practices indicated that genotypes like IC-74, Pusa Early Bunching, Rajendra Kranti, Co-2, Hisar Sonali, HM-273 and UM-117 were among top ten genotypes for leaf yield, biological and seed yield. These genotypes also performed better for other characters. Since most of these best genotypes are released cultivars and comparable with IC-74, check and commonly grown cultivar in the fenugreek growing areas of the state, hence can be adopted as substitute to this cultivar.
