Abstract

On the basis of present investigation, it is revealed that turmeric is a suitable crop in multistoried cropping system in Bay Islands, there is a promising future for the processed, preserved products by using raw turmeric rhizome. The study further emphasized the need for popularization and development of diversified health products from raw rhizome so as to create ready market to the produce. The raw rhizome would be disposed of for the preparation of products and eventually reduces the tedious processing like boiling, drying and polishing which will in turn bring potential earnings to the farmers, unemployed youth or Self Help Group members of bay islands.
