Results on inter-specific hybrids in domesticated Capsicum species in Western Himalayan region

A study was conducted at Defence Institute of Bio Energy Research (DRDO), Pithoragarh, during the year 2006–2007, to elucidate compatibility relationships between the domesticated species e.g. Capsicum annuum, C. frutescens, C. pubescens, C. baccatum. and C. chinense with the ultimate objective of transferring the desired genes for pungency or resistance from allied species to C. annuum and to assess the scope of Heterosis of inter specific hybrids.
