Studies on the effect of GA₃ and NAA on growth and flowering of French marigold (Tagetes patula Linn)

A field experiment was conducted to assess the effect of various plant growth regulators on growth and flowering of French marigold (Tagetes patula Linn) in the experimental field of Department of Horticulture, Janta P.G. College, Bakewar, Etawah (U.P.). Two Plant growth regulator vig, GA₃ (150, 300 and 450ppm) and NAA (50,100 and 200 ppm) were sprayed on plant after 10 day of transplanting while distilled water sprayed only was used as control. Among the treatment GA₃ (450 ppm) significantly increased plant height, number of branches, diameter of main stem, number of leaves, number of flowers and total yield of flowers as compared to other treatments.
