Abstract

Correlation studies were conducted with nine parents and 36 F1s of marigold (Tagetes spp.). Highly significant positive correlation was observed between days taken to flowering and flower yield/plant, whereas highly significant and negative correlation was observed between days taken to flowering, number of flowers/plant and flowering duration. Flower longevity was highly significant and positively correlated with number of petals/flower, shelf life of flowers, number of whorls/flower and flower yield/m2. Average fresh weight of flower was recorded, highly significant positive correlation with average dry weight of flower, number of petals/flower, length and breadth of ray floret and flower yield/m2. Flower duration were found highly significantly and positively correlated with number of petals/flower.
