Abstract

Bael cultivar Pant Shivani can successfully be propagated through nodal segment culture under in vitro conditions by culturing 0.5 cm long nodal segment sequentially surface sterilized in 70 per cent ethanol (30 seconds), 0.1 per cent HgCl2 (10 minutes), 1.0 per cent KCl (2 minutes) and 5 per cent NaOCl (10 minutes). BAP alone at 2.0 mg/l and in combination, 2.0mg/l BAP + 1.0 mg/l IAA caused best shoot proliferation. Best rooting was induced in ½ MS medium supplemented with 8.0 mg/l IBA and 1.5 mg/l IAA. The rooted plantlets hardened for 7 days under ambient condition but did not survived in the pot.
