Abstract

The present investigation was carried out at Vegetable Research Centre, G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar during August to May of 2006–07 to 2008–09 (three years) to evaluate the capsicum varieties/hybrids in naturally ventilated low cost polyhouse. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with four replications. Five hybrids/varieties of capsicum were tested for growth, yield and its components in naturally ventilated polyhouse for identifying suitable variety. A non-significance difference was found between all the varieties to all the characters except fruit yield/m2 and q/ha. Hybrid Bharat gave maximum number of fruits/plant. Hybrid Indira gave maximum fruit weight and yield/plant, although the differences were non-significant. It also gave significantly higher fruit yield/plant and fruit yield/ha. The minimum fruit yield/plant and per hectare was recorded with variety Bullnose (check).
