An investigation was carried out to find the effect of different pulsing solutions (CaCl2 1%, Sucrose 5% + 8HQC 150ppm, Sucrose 3% + Al2(SO4) 300 ppm for duration of 20 and 24 h) and precooling methods (cold storage at 4°C for 24 h and spraying of ice cold water over the cut flowers for 45 min) on the quality and vase life of cut rose stems. Results obtained show that all pulsed and precooled treatments performed better than that of control. Among all the treatments A2B1 (pulsing with Sucrose 5% + 8HQC 150 ppm for 20 h and precooling at 4°C for 24 h) results in better quality and enhanced vase life of 11.81 days. However, the treatments A2B0 (flowers pulsed with Sucrose 5% + 8HQC 150 ppm and not precooled) and A0B1 (flowers not pulsed but precooled at 4°C for 24 h) recorded a vase life of 11.14 days and 10.91days, respectively. In control treatment A0B0, the vase life recorded was 10.05 days.
