Abstract

One hundred ten bush types French bean germplasm were evaluated for 13 traits to study the genetic association between pairs of trait with seed yield during rainy season. Significant positive associations were observed for seed yield with plant height, number of pods/plant, number of seeds/pod and 100-seed weight. However, the traits like leaflet size (length and width), pod size (length and width), seed size (length and width) and days to maturity also showed positive association genotypically but nonsignificant, whereas days to 50% flowering showed nonsignificant negative association for seed yield. Thus, direct selection for early maturing genotype alongwith more number of pods and seeds having higher seed weight would be desirable to improve the seed yield.
