Present investigation was undertaken with eight genotypes of bitter gourd in Tarai of Uttaranchal. The seed protein was extracted and electrophoresced to distinguish morphologically similar genotypes. It was possible to distinguish long fruited genotype Kalyanpur Baramasi from other variety with almost equally long fruits viz., PBIG 4 on the basis of seed protein banding patterns.
