Abstract

The studies were conducted during the years 2001 and 2002 to standardize the best method and time of grafting and budding in persimmon. Four methods of grafting and budding were performed at 10 days interval from 10th February to 12th March. The results revealed that among the four methods, chip budding was found highly superior and gave 86.50 per cent budtake success on 2nd March. Crown grafting performed on 20th February also registered good budtake success of 72.50 per cent. The period from 3rd week of February to 2nd of March was considered as optimum time for chip budding for persimmon under mid hill conditions of North Western Himalayas.
