Abstract

The present studies were carried out at the Department of Fruit Science, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The influence of various guava rootstocks on stionic relationship, tree growth and fruit yield characteristics of Allahabad Sufeda and Sardar guava scions was studied. Portugal was the most invigorating rootstock which increased the girth in combination with both the scion cultivars as compared to other rootstocks. Similarly, Sardar guava was vigorous scion and imparted vigour to the rootstocks by improving stock girth over Allahabad Sufeda. During both the years, Sardar guava plants registered higher mean tree height as compared to Allahabad Sufeda. Both the scions gave significantly higher mean fruit yield on Portugal rootstocks than on other rootstocks. under the present study, Portugal was found invigorating rootstock in terms of stionic, tree growth and yield characteristics.
