Abstract

Present investigation was conducted during Kharif season of the year 2009–2010 at Vegetable Research Block of College of Forestry & Hill Agriculture, GBPUA&T, Ranichauri, Uttrakhand. Three hybrids (V), viz., Fiesta (Bezo Sheetal Pvt. Ltd. Jalana), Premier and ATX-218A (Takii & Company Ltd., Kyoto, Japan) and an open pollinated variety, viz., KTS-1 (IARI, Katrain, H.P.) were tested at four dates of transplanting (D), viz., 27th June, 07thJuly, 17thJuly, and 27th July under rainfed mid hill conditions of Ranichauri. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications. The crop was raised by applying NPK @ 100:80:60 kg/ha. Based on the findings of present investigation, it can be concluded that broccoli hybrids Premier and Fiesta were found at par superior for head yield. Among different transplanting dates, 27th July transplanting had best impact on head yield characters. Treatment combination transplanting of Fiesta hybrid on 27th of July was most suitable for getting highest marketable head yield under rainfed mid hill conditions of Uttrakhand, provided all scientific management practices are followed. Beside this, other treatment combination which could also be recommended to vegetable growers of Uttrakhand is transplanting of Premier Hybrid on 27th of July.
