Comparative physico-chemical and sensory evaluation of fruits of guava (Psidium guajava L.) cultivars

Abstract

Guava (Psidium guajava L.) is one of the most important fruit crops of tropical and subtropical regions. Allahabad is privileged for producing the best guava fruits. In this attempt, have analysed physical, chemical and sensory qualities of different guava cultivars with the aim to compare and to find out the best cultivar with respect to all evaluated parameters. The fresh guava fruits of Allahabad safeda, Allahabad surkha & apple colour of Mrigbahar were procured from the local market of Ram-Baug, Allahabad. It is concluded that Allahabad safeda followed by Apple colour as the best cultivars based on physico-chemical analysis. Also as far as overall acceptability is concerned the Allahabad Safeda was proved to be superior among other two cultivars.
