Abstract

A study was conducted during the year 2010–2012 to assess the fruit quality of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) grown in organically and conventional system in new alluvial zones of West Bengal. Findings revealed that organically grown fruits contained more amount of Ca, Fe, Mn and P as compared to conventional (use of chemical fertilizer) grown fruits. Organically grown fruit also exhibited maximum quality parameters like total soluble solids, total sugar, TSS: acid and fruit weight while maximum yield (kg/tree) was obtained from conventional grown trees.
