Abstract

The treatment consisted of different chemical fertilizers factorially combined on the basis of a completely Randomized Block Design. Using urea (1000, 1500 and 2000 g tree”1) and muriate of potash (1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 g tree”1) the growth and leaf nutrient status of pear fruit, cv. Patharnakh were determined at the Fruit Research Station in Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, during the year 2012–13. The data observed on tree growth showed that different levels of nitrogen and potassium had significant effect on growth characters, which might be due to better root development and nutrient uptake. Leaf nutrient contents (N and K) were higher in treatments where their respective doses were maximum. Both leaf Ca and Mg contents decreased with the increase in the nitrogen and potassium fertilizers rates.
