Experimentation in plantation sector in India started with the establishment of four Coconut Research Stations in the present Kasaragod district in Kerala during the year 1916. Subsequently research activities initiated in all plantation crops and now coordinated by ICAR except for tea, coffee and rubber. This group of crops have many common issues but technologies are specific. In this review, research accomplishments made in coconut, arecanut and cocoa are summarized along with research gaps and future line of works.
