Screening of different chrysanthemum cultivars against aphid, Macrosiphoniella sanborni (Gillette)

Abstract

Out of nineteen chrysanthemum cultivars evaluated, the lowest aphid populations were recorded on Red Stone (16.87 aphids/10cm twig) followed by Honey Comb (16.92 aphids/10cm twig) whereas Denty White (18.01 aphids/10cm twig) was found resistant. The cultivars Winter Queen, Mother Teresa, Aditya, Sharada and Lal Pari were found moderately resistant by recording aphid population ranging between 18.02 to 21.39 aphids per 10cm twig. The cultivars Punch White, NC Pink, Mayur, Bidhan Agnidev, Sabita, Bidhan Tarun and Ajina Purple were found moderately susceptible, having aphid population ranging between 21.39 to 24.77 aphids per 10cm twig. however, the cultivars Bidhan Jayanti, Punjab Gold and Sunil were found susceptible by recording aphid population ranging between 24.77 to 28.14 aphids per 10cm twig. Among all chrysanthemum cultivars, Ratlam Selection was categorized as highly susceptible having more than 28.14 aphids per 10cm twig.
