Abstract

Tomato is one of the most commonly cultivated crops in the river bank of Brahmaputra and Barak of Assam. Tomato is prone to different pests and diseases as Assam witnesses high humidity coupled with cloudy weather. Thepresent study was carried out during 2020–21 to find out the suitable varieties with disease resistance for cultivation in the prevailing condition of two agro-climatic zones of Assam. Among the four hybrid tomato varieties, viz., Arka Abhed, Arka Rakshak, Rishika, and Rocky, Arka Abhed outperformed the other hybrid varieties in terms of morphological and yield attributing characters. The study also revealed that there were no early and late blight, leaf curl incidences in the assessed varieties. However, bacterial wilt was encountered in Arka Rakshak (6.13%), Rishika (8.83%) and Rocky (10%).
