Effect of different dates of sowing and organic manures on the production potential of radish (Raphanus sativus L.)
Abstract
The experiment was carried out at Campus for Research and Advanced Studies, Dhablan, GSSDGS Khalsa College, Patiala (Punjab) to study the production potential of radish (Raphanus sativus L.) as influenced by different sowing dates and organic manures. Fifteen treatments including three different sowing dates and five levels of organic manures were laid under split plot design with 3 replications. The results revealed that with the sowing date 28th October, maximum results of yield parameters such as root length (39.65 cm), root diameter (3.75 cm), root: shoot ratio (4.43), root weight (277.07 g), root yield (410.05 q ha-1) and economics, viz., Gross return (205026.67 ha-1), net return (159126.67 ha-1), and B:C ratio (3.43) were observed. Among the organic manures the application of Vermicompost 50% + Poultry manure 50% resulted in superior yield parameters such as root length (42.45 cm), root diameter (4.36 cm), root: shoot ratio (5.26), root weight (314.67 g), root yield (480.45 q ha-1) and economics like gross return (240226.671 ha-1), net return (191476.671 ha-1), and B:C ratio (3.93).
