Effect of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield of chilli (Capsicum annum L.)
Abstract
The present experiment entitled “Effect of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield of chilli (Capsicum annum L.)” was conducted during rabi season of the year 2016 at Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, Udai Pratap College, Varanasi. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design (RBD) with three replications and 11 treatments viz. T1 = 100% RDF (NPK 120:60:50 kg/ha), T2= 100% FYM (25 t/ha), T3= 75% NPK (90:45:37.5 Kg/ha) + 25% FYM (6.25 t/ha ), T4= 50% NPK (60:30:25 kg/ha) + 50% FYM (12.5 t/ha), T5= 25% NPK (30:15:12.5 kg/ha) + 75% FYM (18.75 t/ha ), T6 = 100% FYM (25 t/ha) + Biofertilizers (Azotobacter 5 kg/ha + VAM 4 kg/ha), T7 = 75% NPK (90:45:37.5 Kg/ha) + 25% FYM (6.25 t/ha) + Biofertilizers (Azotobacter 5 kg/ha + VAM 4 kg/ha), T8 = 50% NPK (60:30:25 kg/ha) + 50% FYM (12.5 t/ha) + Biofertilizers (Azotobacter 5 kg/ha + VAM 4 kg/ha), T9 = 25% NPK (30:15:12.5 kg/ha) + 75% FYM (18.75 t/ha) + Biofertilizers (Azotobacter 5 kg/ha + VAM 4 kg/ha), T10 = 100% Biofertilizers (Azotobacter 5 kg/ha + VAM 4 kg/ha) and T11 = Control (0: 0: 0). Result of study revealed that maximum plant height(29.65, 44.50, 55.81 and 67.21cm at 30, 60, 90 and 120 DAT, respectively), number of branches (8.11, 10.06, 15.07, 20.50 at 30, 60, 90 and 120 DAT, respectively), number of leaves (37.14, 56.21, 77.43 and109.43 at 30, 60, 90 and 120 DAT, respectively), fruit set (96.97%), number of fruits per plant (96.43), fruit length (9.02 cm), fruit weight/plant (0.144 kg ), fruit weight/plot (3.59 kg), fruit yield / ha (9591.10kg), B: C ratio (3.85) and minimum days to first fruit harvesting (108.26) was recorded in treatment T7 (75% NPK (90:45:37.5 Kg/ha) + 25% FYM (6.25 t/ha) + Biofertilizers (Azotobacter 5 kg/ha + VAM 4 kg/ha). Based on the results this treatment T7 can be suggested to chilli producing farmers of Varanasi region for better growth and development.
