Effect of different organic fertilizers on quality attributes of spinach beet (Beta vulgaris var. bengalensis Roxb.) cv. Pusa Bharti

Abstract

The present investigation was conducted under protected conditions in a complete randomized block design with seven treatments. Seven treatments of organic fertilizers T1 = Control (RDF), T2 = Jeevamurt @1%, T3 = Farm yard manure @ 0.5 kg, T4 = Vermicompost @0.2 kg, T5 = Agnihotra ash @1%, T6 = Poshak vardhak @1% and T7 = Azospirillum @1%. Observations were recorded for leaf yield per plant (g), fresh weight of leaf blade (g), dry weight of leaf blade (g), moisture content (%), total soluble solids (0B), ascorbic acid (mg 100-1). The data was recorded and observed the treatment T5 = Agnihotra ash @1% showed better effect for fresh weight of leaf blade (15.37 ± 0.23g), T6= Poshak vardhak @1% for moisture content (82.68 ± 1.27 %). dry weight of leaf blade (2.89 ± 0.01 g) and total soluble solids (2.16 ± 0.01 0B) were recorded in T7 = Azospirillum @1%. The T2= Jeevamurt @1% showed highest for ascorbic acid (79.53 ± 0.11 mg 100-1). Findings revealed that organic fertilizers can be utilized as an effective source of nutrient supplements for increasing overall product quality over control in spinach beet.
