Abstract

Maleic Hydrazide (MH) when sprayed on the foliage gave significant reduction in per cent sprouting. It was most effective at 0.30% sprayed 4 weeks before harvest (WBH) in Kufri Muthu and 0.25% sprayed 2 WBH in Kufri Jyoti. MH treatment resulted in significant reduction in sprout growth without reduction in yield. (There was no yield reduction due to MH treatment). MH treatment caused significant change in per cent sprouting in summer but no significant difference was observed in autumn. Varieties differed in their response to MH treatment. No significant change in the chemical composition of the tuber was observed due to MH treatment.
