Abstract

In the present series of experimentations the appropriate time of sowing of cut potato seed pieces has been evaluated to minimise the seed tuber decay which is otherwise prevalent in autumn planting in the North Western plains. The results obtained in these investigation conclusively indicated that sowing on 5th October rather than 25th September or 15th October exhibited higher plant stand. The fungicidal cut seed treatment further improved the plant stand. The yield attributes were also significantly influenced by the date of sowing and seed treatment with Dithane M-45 followed by Cuman L and Emisan-6 on 5th October sown crop provided maximum yield.
