Dates of planting and haulm cutting for disease-free seed potato production in eastern gangetic plains

Of three dates of planting (October 25 and November 5 and 15) tried, that on November 5 gave maximum seed size as well as total tuber yield of Kufri Chandramukhi and Kufri Sindhuri. Maximum freedom from leaf roll and severe mosaics was however, obtained when seed croops were planted on October 25, and their haulm cut on the critical date of appearance of Myzus persicae. It is suggested that such seed may be priced at a 15% higher level to compensate for yield loss.
